Bumper Sticker

On the top of the "Why Red Sox Fans are More Annoying Than Whiny 5-year Olds" list: a bumper sticker I saw today:

Yankees still suck.

Jealous, much?

Best. Shirt. Ever.

Overheard conversations...

"Mommy, how come the Red Sox are losing this year?" Boy, not more than 5 years old, riding his bike down Boylston Street in Boston

"Um...well...sometimes teams just don't play well honey." Mom

"Oh, then they're not going to win the World Series this year, huh?" Boy

Smart kid.

Just like old times...

So the Red Sox Nation has thrown in the towel, and I have nothing to post about anymore! What the hell, Boston? What happened to your winning spirit and always sticking by your team? Oh wait...

This is not addressed to the old-school fans, the ones with too much class to yell things like "Yankees Suck" when the Sox were actually winning or the ones who had their dreams realized after 86 years of suffering. You guys are still around, but lately you've been a little outnumbered. Welcome back to the way things should have always been, with the Sox falling apart in August and you sinking into depression, waiting for the Pats' season to begin. Just like old times, huh?

Rather, it's the newest "members" of the Nation whom I miss, mainly because they were the ones who never really got it to begin with, and they were oh-so-amusing (if at times excessively annoying). They are the ones who started selling their tickets on EBay immediately following the "Boston Massacre Part II" a few weeks back, because who wants to see a team that's losing? They're the morons who decided to jump on the Sox bandwagon back in 2004 cause it was the cool thing to do. They probably had never watched a game before in their life. The second the Red Sox are no longer the "it" thing, they're done. Obviously they were never real fans to begin with.

Oh nevermind. I guess I still have plenty to write about now that their team has washed up.

Tomorrow: a picture of the greatest T-shirt ever. Seriously. Just gotta remember to bring my camera home from work.
